Music

Music is a foundation subject within the National Curriculum.

Music plays an important part in the life of the school, concerts, class music and singing lessons all being part of the curriculum.

We aim to provide opportunities for pupils to compose, listen to and perform music in various forms. The school employs a music specialist who studied at the Royal Academy of Music and children receive weekly lessons within their classes.

There are options for tuition in:

  • Piano, string and wind instruments.
  • Extra-curricular tuition by peripatetic music teachers is available in a variety of musical instruments.

Opportunities are provided for pupils to participate in a comprehensive range of instrumental activities including individually, in small ensembles, the school orchestra, assemblies and productions. The school choir takes part in regional music competitions.
