St. Margaret's offers a very broad, well-balanced
Curriculum, with specialist teachers for Physical Education,
Information & Communications Technology, Music,
Design Technology, French and Art. Pupils
are prepared for the Common Entrance Examination at
11+.
St. Margaret's School
was among the first Independent schools to embrace the
National Curriculum and has always followed and indeed
exceeded the set guidelines at every level within the
school. The school provides a balance between academic
and creative subjects and sports.
French is introduced
in the Nursery and taught throughout the school.
At the end of Key Stage
1 phase of education, children are confident of their
abilities and are enthusiastic and prepared for the
Preparatory stage of education - Key Stage 2.

Key Stage 1 (Pre-preparatory) covers the
school's Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes at the
end of which the children take Standardised Assessment
Tests (SATs) in the core subjects. Throughout a pupil's
studies, progress is reviewed and assessed by Teachers
and detailed records are maintained
Preparatory covers the Years 3 - 6 and
is subject to standardised assessment testing at the
end of Year 6. In all areas of the curriculum, teacher
assessment is recorded and progress is monitored constantly.
Pupils are prepared for the Common Entrance Examinations
at 11+
The results of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage
2 Standardised Assessment Tests (SATs) and Teacher Assessments
are reported to parents at the end of each Key Stage
to appraise them of their child's progress in relation
to National criteria.
