Information Communication Technology (ICT)

Information and Communications Technology is a foundation subject in the National Curriculum and is a cross curricular skill. It is used to enrich and support pupil learning across the whole curriculum. Increased capability in the use of ICT promotes initiative and independent learning.

The school has specialist ICT suites which are well resourced to ensure that all pupils have a firm grounding in Information Technology skills. All classes have access to computers to support, enhance and reinforce learning in all areas of the curriculum.

All ITC suites are equipped with colour printers, scanner and screened internet access. In addition, all classrooms are equipped with computers, colour printers and a range of accompanying software that may be used by pupils in various ways to support curriculum delivery.

From 5 years of age, pupils have ITC lessons with a specialist ITC teacher, learning to use word processors, keyboard skills, graphics handling and databases. There are many subject-specific programs to extend work in other subjects. Nursery School children of 3 and 4 years have their own computers in their form rooms with appropriate software programs.
